GMK Extended 2048

Technical characteristics
A tribute to the iconic Apple Extended Keyboard II from the early 1990s.
My idea was to offer a timeless looking keycap set that would never feel outdated. I wanted to create something with meaningful but easy to recognize legends (icons & alphas), the kind of symbols that feel intuitive and universal rather than trendy or complex, since that's also the DNA of the AEKII. The set comes in two main colorways - a clean light version with cream-colored alphas and a sophisticated dark variant with deep charcoal keys. Both versions maintain the classic minimalist aesthetic that made the original Apple keyboard so memorable.
The legends use a custom typeface that I designed specifically for this project, carefully balancing readability with period-correct character. I wanted the font to feel familiar yet refined, just like the original. All the icons and symbols were also created from scratch to match the Apple aesthetic perfectly. This was particularly challenging because I had to consider the technical limitations of double-shot injection molding throughout the design process. Every curve and line weight was optimized to ensure clean, crisp production while maintaining the visual harmony of the set.
My goal was to create more than just a nostalgic keycap set. I wanted to design something that honors computing history while feeling completely at home on a modern mechanical keyboard. Extended 2048 bridges past and present, offering both vintage charm and contemporary functionality.
